Project Management

Larger development projects, with extended planning or delivery programmes, often require project management as part of a multi-disciplinary approach. Clients will often appoint us to this role as an extension to our landscape consultancy to ensure a fully integrated approach is achieved. We are currently working as project managers for clients in Hampshire and West Yorkshire to ensure that the ongoing design and implementation are kept on budget and to schedule. We recently worked with architects, drainage engineers, ecologists, archaeologists and sustainability experts to secure a planning permission for an innovative farm diversification project in Hampshire and continue to project manage the scheme as it moves forward toward implementation. The current planning system requires that all planning applications are front-loaded, with all the specialist assessments integrated to create a holistic design approach. This process has to be managed, with all consultants' work collated and incorporated into the final suite of drawings and specifications. We have a proven track record of project management, delivering planned objectives on time and budget.

3D Visualisation

Urban Wilderness produce a variety of high quality visuals tailored to meet the needs of your project. Visuals are often needed in order to help members of the public, stakeholders, planners or statutory consultees more fully-understand the design proposals and their context. Graphics can be produced as either photo-realistic images or 3D sketches. For Photo-realistic imagery the quality of the original photography is crucial and a thorough understanding of site and its constraints, such as lighting, aspect and visibility are fundamental to the visual presentation. Photo-realistic imagery can be employed, particularly on more sensitive sites, where more precise, proportioned visuals are necessary to illustrate design interventions. 3D sketches are typically produced via the creation of a 3D computer model, which is then augmented with either hand drawn or computer linework and rendered to create images that convey the character, design intent, materials palette and structure of spaces. These images are often used for site promotion, Design and Access Statements or Public Consultation purposes. The quality and accuracy of these visualisations can often be a determining factor for planning applications. We provide our clients with the appropriate level of presentation information to help them communicate the design, help stakeholders visualise the proposals and ultimately provide reassurance that the proposals work.

Recent consultation websites include a site for 125 homes in Southbourne, West Sussex (http://inglefield-southbourne.info), and a large mixed use urban extension to the south of Fareham (http://www.newlandsfareham.com). Both websites were produced on behalf of Hallam Land Management Ltd. “Urban Wilderness was integral to the success of the three major planning applications at Keele University. It was a pleasure to work with them – Nathan and Chris showed understanding of the built and natural landscape combined with commercial nous throughout. We haven’t hesitated in recommending their services since.” Matthew Hard, - Associate, Indigo Planning (2018)
