Anne Hathaway’s Cottage

One’s sense of arrival to Anne Hathaway’s Cottage in Stratford-upon Avon, was central to this project.

People visiting the Cottage often pass by and view the cottage from the public highway, rather than calling in to look round. This project on behalf of Hallam Land Management and the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, assessed different options for streetscape enhancements aimed at re-balancing the ratio of “bypassers” to “paying visitors”. This was coupled with options for new bus/coach drop-off and car-parking that would help facilitate anticipated growth whilst not detracting upon on the setting of the Cottage or the visitor experience.

“In many ways this project showcases the way in which landscape solutions can be employed as part of business improvement strategies. This project will ultimately improve visitor experience and increase footfall.”
