Our City Green is a proposed festival committed to improving people’s health and wellbeing through connection to, and exploration of, urban nature. The festival seeks to reinvigorate underused green spaces across Sheffield, link them with other existing urban nature areas, and help to create a green network that can be used by local communities and celebrated within the festival.
Urban Wilderness are the lead partner in a consortium of other Sheffield based organisations (including The University of Sheffield, Sheffield Chamber of Commerce, The Diocese of Sheffield and Sheffield Federation of Mosques) who are exploring ways in which this vision can be delivered for the benefit of Sheffield communities.
Through a community-based and co-creation approach to fulfil these aspirations, Our City Green festival proposes to deliver landscape installations and events across 4 districts in Sheffield connected by the Supertram network. Installations will include pop-up gardens / forests, community food hubs, biodiversity habitat features and art interventions, that aim to bring together our diverse Sheffield community and engage it with urban nature. A programme of events will complement these installations including storytelling, nature and wellbeing workshops, music, and more.
