Shepherd’s Green, Ibstock

How do you create a new edge of settlement neighbourhood without changing the landscape setting of a town?

We were appointed to produce a masterplan and vision document for this challenging site in Ibstock, Leicestershire. The site forms the semi-rural landscape setting to Ibstock Conservation Area and the much loved St. Deny’s Grade II listed church.

Through careful siting of proposed homes and the introduction of a new high-quality parkland setting, we re-imagined the setting of the conservation area and church which in turn enhanced Ibstock’s urban edge and the transition from town to country. This sensitive and considered approach brings the towns heritage assets into focus, provides new recreational areas for residents and helps to meet the much needed housing targets for the region.

“The vision for this site could see the creation of a fantastic new landscape resource for the health and well-being of new and existing residents whilst being respectful to the towns's heritage assets.”
